❝she wore silk dresses and flower crowns, she was soft and she was loved
and then she was stolen, this is the story they tell,

they don't speak of her rages, where she would pull rain from the clouds
and the flowers turned black beneath her feet,

they don't speak of how she laughed when icarus fell from the sky in golden plume

they do not speak of how she grew flowers because she liked watching them fade and die
and they do not speak of how she pounded at the gates of hell until they opened

and how she let the pomegranate juice drip from her smiling lips
and how even hades trembles under her gaze❞

DIVINE - A Persephone And Hades Retelling by ebonyyclarke

"I've told you, Hades, I can not become your mistress." she sadly told him. She had always lived in her mother's shadow, and if she followed Hades, she would once again be living in another's shadow. Even though she loved him, she did not think she could stomach it. "I do not want you to be my mistress, Persephone, I want you to be my queen," he confessed to her. She snapped her head up to meet his eyes, searching for any sign he wanted to take his words back, but there was no remorse. And just like that, she fell ever so slightly more in love with him. "Your queen?" she asked, she had to be sure. Strangely the word had slid off her tongue gracefully as if it had belonged there. "Yes, become my queen," he told her once again, taking back the step she had taken. "Rule besides me as the goddess of spring and the Underworld." The words don't seem to make sense in her mind. --- Further description in the book --- #1 - MYTH RETELLING (as of October 1st, 2021) #1 - GODDESS OF SPRING (as of Nov 23rd, 2021) #1 - HADES TOWN (as of Jan 13th, 2022) #1 - HADES AND PERSEPHONE (as of Feb 9th, 2022) #1 - GREEK MYTHOLOGY (as of March 29th, 2022) #1 - QUEEN OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 4th, 2022) #1 - PERSEPHONE AND HADES (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of April 20th, 2022) #1 - KING OF THE UNDERWORLD (as of Dec 22, 2022) #2 - HECATE (as of Nov 4th, 2021) #2 - DEMETER (as of Jan 29th, 2022) #2 - KING AND QUEEN (as of Feb 21st, 2022) #2 - PERSEPHONE (as of Sep 20th, 2023) #3 - GREEK MYTH (as of May 6th, 2022) #4 - MYTH (as of April 21th, 2022) #4 - RETELLING (as of May 10th, 2022) #4 - UNDERWORLD (as of 26th, 2023) #6 - HADES (as of April 8th, 2022) #6 - DIVINE (as of May 6th, 2022) #41 - OLYMPIANS (as of Feb 9th, 2021) #55 - GREEK (as of May 8th, 2022) #61 - OLYMPUS (as of May 8th, 2022)

A goddess is taken to the underworld as the king's bride; her father knew everything and her mother knew nothing. In this retelling of the Hymn of Demeter, mother and daughter will do whatever it takes to free themselves, no matter the cost. Book I of The Triple Moons' Chronicles * Up in the sky, in a world between myths and lies, lives a daughter caged on an island. She is Persephone. The beautiful Persephone, whom every Olympian god wants to marry-they all want her beauty to conceal their ugliest secrets, but only Hades manages to take her to his realm. He dwells below the earth, across the river Styx, between Tartarus and the Isle of Blest. No mortals can see his forbidden land until they pass away. Forced into marriage by her father Zeus, Persephone would resign from her fate. But when her grieving mother, Demeter, comes close to killing all the mortals, Zeus orders her back to her homeland. Given and returned against her will, Persephone takes charge of her life and eats six pomegranate seeds before leaving. Food from the underworld can't be eaten as it will tie one to the land. As her decision pushes her closer together and apart from her loved ones, Persephone's destiny turns worse. Only she may have the power to change her world for the better. *** CW: While written in a lyrical style, this story is advised for mature audiences only. From having a normal, average life, you wouldn't have known that somehow, I am now involved with the mythological world of gods. In particular, the God of the Underworld, Hades. It sounds like the love story of Persephone, where Hades fell in love with her at first sight, but my Hades? No. He's brusque, rough and more than a little surly. Yet, here I am. The one falling in love with the god who no longer loves. Me? I'm his Persephone, destined to be his forever. Or so the Fates say. They say I am the reincarnated goddess herself, a Descendant of Persephone. Yet somehow, it seems there is more to this than we all seem to think. Perhaps it is more than just a love story.
