This is a shorter version of a letter written by Sullivan Ballou to his wife Sarah prior to the first battle of Bull Run in 1861 in the American civil war. It touched me and I wanted as many people as possible to read it. The fuller version is available through many links online. This version is for my wife Sarah, for one day in the future.
