in present day London Sherlock Holmes is walking home to appartment 221B.
sherlock spots a gold glowing object in the stream near his appartment. when sherlock takes a closer look at the object he learns that it is a ring ( the one ring) one ring to rule them all.
sherlock takes the ring home and starts to put on his finger when he starts having visions of a mythical enchanting land with many different creatures through these visions sherlock learns of the rings heritage.
