IAAN- Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration. It kills 90% of kids under ten. It's the disease that plagues my world. And no one knows what caused it.

At first the people feared the disease because it killed 90% of America's children. But then, they feared it because of what it did to the ones who lived. The ones like me.

It turned us into freaks, as the adults like to say. The disease gave us special abilities. We were strong. The government feared us.

As the government does when it fears things, it locked us away. They segregated us by colour, by danger, and sent us to live in camps. But I won't have that. Jia Thorin won't have that. I will do whatever it takes to stop this, including joining the Children's League, an organization that advocates for the kids of America, the ones who live.

The ones like me.

Green- those who developed enhanced mental and intellectual powers as a result of IAAN - Safe

Blue- those who developed telekinetic powers as a result of IAAN - Guarded

Yellow- those who developed electrokinetic powers as a result of IAAN - Caution

Red- those who developed pyrokinetic powers as a result of IAAN - EXTREME DANGER

Orange- those who developed mind control powers as a result of IAAN - ELIMINATE

INCAPABLE - BOOK I: THE FALLEN by MiquelaVeronique

ONCE my mom told me that we, as humans, only fear what we do not know and that that is the sole reason for violence. We do not know what is to come of something, so in retaliation we immediately fight it off before we can ever find out; before we can ever see if there is any beauty in it. My mom is gone now. Along with any sanity we as a people have left. The year is 2193, and the world is at war. We, humans, are at war with each other only because of what we are and what we can do. We fear what we do not know, thus all we know is ignorance. The government, our democracy, our people and our world have fallen. Nothing good ever comes from being afraid of the abnormalities of others, especially when those abnormalities are amazing. The truth is, none of us are normal. Everyone's definition of normality is different, making it humanly impossible for anyone to ever accomplish the craved label of "normal". Then again, everything we have grown capable of was once described as humanly impossible. By those standards none of us are human. Not even me. A U T H O R ' S N O T E : This book is completed and there will be a second book coming out sometime next year, most likely in the summer. Please excuse any grammar issues or misspellings I have. I hope there are not many, but please consider I do all of the editing myself. Also this is a revised edition of Incapable - Book I: The Fallen. I think I have made it much better than the original story I wrote in the summer of this year and posted only a few months ago. I hope you enjoy! Happy reading. Xoxo, Miquéla P.S. I'm more than open to Q & A in the comments section or on my board if you have any questions regarding the book or just in general. :)
Sacred High (Book One: Freshman Year) by Izanagimi
25 parts Complete
Although the world appeared to be normal, one day changes occurred. The 'New Generation' was formed. Young children moving toward highschool started developing abilities. These abilities were the same or shared with gods and mythical creatures. For example one had the abilities of Zeus able to produce lightning, and so on. These were called the 'Irregulars', all sent to 'Sacred High', a highschool created specially for them. This however is not a normal school, as there are no adults around to lead anything. It is run by the students, mainly the Student Council, and forms a battle for survival, survival of the fittest. One day, the supervisors on the outside found something different ... An Irregular Among Irregulars, alias IAI. A young boy that was within the New Generation, yet had no abilities whatsoever. After the entry interview, the youth claimed: "I have no religion or beliefs but my own path." Due to this statement, this youth was titled "The Atheist', put on Sacred High between the rampant gods and myth wielders. Striving to aim for higher popularity ranks to ensure their safety, this was literally a battle to survive and become the strongest. The better your reputation, the less likely anyone would bother you. At the top stands the Student Council, possibly the most rotten out of the school, while at the bottom, the new IAI joins. Does this youth have no actual powers at all? Will the Student Council do something odd? What is the purpose of this school? Find out and explore Sacred High!

He answered ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Being an orphan, you don't have a lot of experience's or happy memories. Especially if your orphanage uses you for human experiments. The pain...the agony- the screams of the other kids I once called friends and played with...all gone and replaced with despair. Only teddy could keep me company and keep me sane. Till one day, a new boy was brought in and he was strange. But he interested the kids, even the scientists. He was placed in my room and he never spoke a word to anyone. He would wake up in the middle of the night and gasp for air like if there never was any. But he was my friend. Things changed and a few years later, the orphanage was attacked. Two people came in and killed the scientists but spared the children. While making an attempt to escape, I was caught by the remaining scientists and taken away. The screams of my friend echoing behind me as I tried to escape... Such a waste as I became strong and have long forgotten those memories. But side effects came with the experiments they played with. Y/N is the name and being psychotic is my game. Don't try to catch me cause I can read you like a book in a grand library. Secrets are never kept when the walls an objects around you speak your truth... ╭⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯⌯╮ First Published: June 25, 2021
Brother's Keeper by RLBrown

"They are taking him away from here, did you know that?" she said. I pretended as if I didn't care, and I leaned hard on the call button for the elevator. "You are his younger brother I am guessing," she said. "If I were you, I would be feeling pretty upset, confused, possibly angry, and maybe even a little scared," she said......a lump was forming in my throat; I closed my eyes to thwart the tears that were forming. I exhaled long and hard. "I am betting your parents are a little confused too, and they probably haven't told you much about what is actually happening with your brother," she said. Richard's journey from adolescents to adulthood went horribly off track the year his older brother was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Richard was only in the eighth grade. Brother's Keeper tells the story of young Richard's inability to deal with losing his older brother to a mental illness, while at the same time struggling to handle the other obstacles in his own life. With his parents focused on his older brother's mental illness, Richard is forced to grow up fast and deal with the issues in his life all on his own. Making the transition from middle school to high school, learning about girls, coping with childhood obesity, dealing with racism, feelings of alienation, and strict parents are just some of the problems Richard must overcome alone; that is until a surrogate older brother steps in. ***Brother's Keeper is my first attempt at writing a novel. Previously all of my works have been short stories or poems. After some modest success in the #EWA2017 General Fiction category, I've decided to make some minor edits and repost the original chapters along with some of the later chapters . Newer chapters will be released as I make revisions. I encourage your questions and feedback, and I thank you for reading! -R.L.Brown

{COMPLETED} "now that you've had your fun electrocuting me, would you care to hop in the backseat?" ---------------------------------------------------------- Freak DNA. That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. And when we arrive, we will arrive violently. ___________________________________________ Started: 10.06.15 Finished: 3.17.16

PART ONE: In the heart of the segregated 1900s, a white couple defies society's expectations by adopting two Black boys. Despite their love for each other, tragedy strikes in the form of a devastating car accident-one that alters their reality forever. PART TWO: (Purgatory) Caught in the space between life and death, each family member must navigate a nightmarish landscape filled with terrifying creatures and twisted trials. Their only hope of peace is to reunite and overcome the darkness together. Author's Message The color of our skin should never decide the weight of our worth. Beneath it all, we share the same pulse - one rhythm, one heart, one fragile, beautiful humanity. In a world painted with differences, kindness is the only language that never needs translation. We are all just souls trying to find peace, trying to love, trying to live. I began writing this because the word racism has always struck me like a wound - sharp, heavy, and undeserved. It's a word that carries too much pain for its size. It divides where there should be unity, it hurts where there should be healing. No one should ever feel less than human because of the shade of their skin. My grandmother taught me that love sees beyond color. She never measured people by appearance - only by their hearts. Every child, every adult, she treated with the same warmth, the same respect, the same unwavering truth. From her, I learned that real strength is gentle, and real justice begins with compassion. So I write for her. I write for those who were silenced, for those who have been seen only through the world's narrow lens. I write because love deserves louder voices than hate. And I hope that somewhere within these words, you remember what she taught me - that the heart knows no color, and humanity was never meant to be divided.

I.A.A.N.: Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration. A disease that affected all children between the ages of 8 to 14. Over 90% of the population died of the disease. Those who survived were given powers. Each power corresponds with a different color. Greens are geniuses. Blues are telekinetic. Yellows are electrokinetic. Reds are pyrokinetic. Oranges are mind controllers. Reds are relatively rare. They possess immense destructive potential. Therefore, they are used by the government to destroy and execute multiple people. However, one managed to change the doctor's mind. At 16 years old, she was sent to Caledonia, along with other Psi children. There, she blended in with the other children. One year later, the breakout happened, and she escaped with a group of kids just like her. My name is Lily Anderson. This is my story.
