When Ellie's father suddenly leaves home without warning her mother spirals out of control. Drugs, alcohol and strangers are let into their home on a daily basis. Ellie starts struggling even more than what she already was with staying focused on schoolwork, and eventually, after struggling long enough, she decides to give up and drops out of Blackwell.
Ellie's best friend Angel, who also goes to Blackwell, was always honor student number one, but one day she suddenly drops below a girl called Sarah, who is now, for some odd reason, the number one student. Sarah was always knows for being just average. She talks a big game but never puts in enough work, sometimes even asking her friends to write her assignments for her. Angel, pissed for being dethroned, decides to look into why Sarah's grades suddenly got so much better. Something strange is going on here... and with Ellie's help she intends to fins out what!
Little did Angel know the events that would be triggered after her decision to look into Sarah would change both her and Ellie's lives forever...

... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either.
