In the land of Alcazar there lives a boy who does not know of fear. One might think it strange, seemingly impossible, that he could not have known it all his life. Do not babies wail at sudden loud noises? Do not young children fear that monsters lurk in the dark? Do not grown men tremble in their boots at the sight of a dragon? Certainly, they do, but not Thurlow. His father says he has the heart of a lion.

But Thurlow sees it as more a curse than a blessing. He is desperate to find answers, and spends every waking moment searching for clues. What would it take to make him afraid? What would that even feel like?

When a magician begins wreaking havoc in town, Thurlow is inspired to finally undertake a quest to find fear, something he has long dreamed of doing. But as he looks for fear, Thurlow is unwittingly entangled in a dangerous plot. He must learn how to navigate deadly schemes and survive magical dangers, and quickly.

*COMPLETE* There are whispers across the kingdoms that the Paragon, that strangely gifted person who can wield all four Skills, has been found. They're wrong, of course. No one has caught the Paragon. Allayria should know: she's it. But Allayria doesn't want to be the Paragon, and in her pursuit of freedom she finds herself enmeshed in a web of lies, caught in a group who might be even more dangerous than she could have imagined. Still, she's not the only one who has problems: bigger tides of change and danger are shifting across the world she has been assigned to protect. The Jarles, a kingdom in the east, has begun moving across its borders, and there are strange murmurings about what they have done, and where all the children they abducted have gone. Faced with responsibilities she never wanted, and a life she thought she could never have, Allayria must decide how she will help--and if she will be the Paragon at all. _____________________ WIP Cover art and written work by Azi.
