Sami est un jeune Syrien de 15 ans, réservé et rêveur.
Hélas, il va devoir interrompre brutalement la vie paisible qu'il laissait défiler sur sa terre natale. Son enfance sera brisée par la guerre.
Il va parcourir son pays, les mers et les continents, en quête d'un endroit où il aurait juste le droit de vivre heureux.
De multiples rencontres, d'étonnantes révélations et des questionnements profonds vont venir complexifier son chemin.

Ce roman est réaliste et historique (même s'il traite de l'histoire actuelle). Il livre une critique globale de notre monde vu par les yeux d'un enfant réfugié. Il détaille un grand nombre des problèmes actuels de l'humanité et permet plusieurs remises en question.
