The orphanage is not the ideal place to live. Its children are rotten, Its floors are squeaky, and It is even said to be haunted. And that's not the worst of it. Something happened in the orphanage, something the students and staff are trying desperately to cover up. Something that young Annalise, a new arrival, will do anything to uncover.

Not a danger to the homeless family. Deadly to the pimp and his soldiers. The homeless couple find the child's real relative and finally are convinced to send the child back to her relatives. But not before the spirits of the building reveal themselves. In the process the spirits reveal that what they expected. The building was a living, feeding entity. I put this story as mature because it discusses things that may be disturbing. Human trafficking, survival sex, child abuse, homelessness, and the control methods used by people involved in human sex trafficking. I was homeless three times in my life.
