William smiled. "Hardly anyone calls me by my first name."
"William," Sia repeated and some of his former melodies made it into his voice.
William's breath hitched, Sia could feel it on his toes. His fingers twitched on his side, like he wanted to reach out and touch Sia, but Sia was glad that he didn't.
"You have a lot of books about magical creatures," Sia said to break the spell between them. His voice had created that spell, he was glad he still could do it, but he didn't want William to touch him now, or to want him like this.
"As a boy I thought the world outside these walls was full of wonders," William replied.
"Not anymore?"
"Men killed all the wonders," William answered.
