The Zodiac Killer was a serial killer who operated in northern California in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The killer's identity remains unknown. The Zodiac murdered victims in Benicia, Vallejo, Lake Berryessa, and San Francisco between December 1968 and October 1969. Four men and three women between the ages of 16 and 29 were targeted. The killer originated the name "Zodiac" in a series of taunting letters sent to the local Bay Area press. These letters included four cryptograms (or ciphers). Of the four cryptograms sent, only one has been definitively solved.
Suspects have been named by law enforcement and amateur investigators, but no conclusive evidence has surfaced. In April 2004, the San Francisco Police Department marked the case "inactive," yet re-opened the case at some point prior to March 2007.

Seven get on. Six get off. Tully was only supposed to ride the bus for a little while in order to get far enough away from her parents. She wasn't supposed to ride for a whole day and night, and certainly wasn't supposed to steal someone's watch. Lake was only supposed to escort his grandmother Hilly to the nursing home. He wasn't supposed to meet a pretty girl. He certainly wasn't supposed to start liking her. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin were only leaving town in order to find a venue for their daughter's wedding. They weren't supposed to take a bus, and Mr. Benjamin wasn't supposed to be murdered. Detective Michael wasn't supposed to be going anywhere at all. He was just tired, and somehow found himself on a bus going nowhere. He wasn't supposed to solve any crimes. He wasn't supposed to sleep with someone's wife, either. Mitchy is just there. Wait.
