In the year 2761, Mars was completely colonized as a new home for the human species. Over the course of hundreds of years, humans flocked to the Martian Colonies and established what came to be known as the Unified Colonies of the Belt. The UCB used it's incredible influence to slowly gain tactical superiority over it's brother colonies of Earth and other planets such as Jupiter and Pluto.
The UCB stood for five hundred years, and developed into one of the most prominent military powers and economic powers in the Milky Way. However, by the year 3322, the colonies had exhausted most of their resources in the Belt, including the near endless supply of salt and other minerals found in their mining industry. Slowly the Belt began to spread it's influence across the galaxy in order to gain more materials to support it's fluctuating population.
Our story begins with our three heroes, if you could call them that. John Starfall, the coward son of a Martian colonist and a Belt Miner, Mina Starfall, the tall and quiet daughter of who knows who and an android by the name of "Lily". Witness their incredible story and the bonds that tie them together as they go on a journey to uncover the sinister plans that they were thrown into by their own Military.

No one ever knows the whole story... Nestled deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, something is emerging. Kept in absolute secrecy, it seeps into a fading town, quietly shared from person to person. For Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate, this discovery could mean an escape from his empty existence. To Rachel DuValle, perpetually underestimated and dismissed by the world, magic represents a chance to become something much greater than herself. In the face of an unsuspecting world, their decisions shape the growth of a budding society discovering untold power. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever - or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. ----- The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series. New chapters will be posted on Fridays for as long as it takes to tell the whole story. Crown Princess Leonore, heir to the queendom of Dranath, likes women, obviously. The Queen Mother Carmilla marries her off to Sir Gabriel, obviously. So when she finds out Sir Gabriel is a woman... Dranath; queendom of mystique, bordered by jealous allies. To the southwest, the states of Aurune. East is the coast and the maritime poleis of Raham. To the north, the Hierstag clans. Rich in land and crop and poor in everything else, the queendom is closed in from all fronts. And when the sword of years-long grudges is brought to bear, who will play it to the hilt? ------------------------------ i wanted to say that this book is my love letter to imperialism, but it's actually lovingly crafted hatemail non-anonymously submitted to imperialism's tumblr asks. this is an exploration of how much suffering one can propagate in order to achieve one's goal, and the degree in which your decisions can be justified (even only to yourself!) before you become, essentially, irredeemable; an exercise in Is It Worth It Though yeah there's magic(k) in this one. and a lot of geopolitics! might have gotten carried away with the geopolitics. come for the gay, stay for the political machinations. or come for the political machinations and stay for the gay, i dont mind. 3rd person pov, leonore-centric, no homophobia (at least, not the kind we usually see), i want to say butch/femme but honestly it's butch gabriel/whatever the hell leonore is. folk anti-hero narrative or villain origin story, you decide

A dutiful, ace soldier from Mars faces a dilemma. She can accept an offer from an infuriating gen-eng man from Venus, grab her loyal cat + dig up her inner rebel and maybe become the first human to explore the Galaxy. OR she can keep flying security on the cruise space ships. Did I mention the man from Venus has an unbearable personality and nearly got her killed on Jupiter? Daaaamn! I got cocky and wrote a space opera, yes, with aliens and fast spaceships. Become a part of the audience so small, it's exclusive! First published: long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Now updates as a lite novel with AI art.
