In an alternative universe, the tension between the Russians and Americans lasts much longer than through the 1980s. In fact, after years of experimenting, the Russian government has finally created young, living super soldiers. Their scientists have made breakthroughs in neurobiology, the structure of human DNA, and embryology that allows them to miraculously create several human traits together and then nurture and grow these artificial humans in an incubation chamber. Dozens of these experiments have failed over the last several decades, but there is finally a breakthrough in 2005. However, this breakthrough is a tragic end for the scientists who helped create and grow this artificial human. Waking up in the middle of the summer in a Russian laboratory, Nick breaths his first breath and starts his journey in this new world.
