Frank is not your average sixteen year old. He drinks, he smokes, and his only friends are in their twenties. He lives with his Mom, who is never home, and his Dad left a long time ago.
Gerard is not your average twenty one year old. He drinks, he smokes, he does drugs, and he has no friends. He lives with his younger brother, Mikey, who goes to school with Frank.
After meeting under unusual circumstances, the two become close, closer then they originally anticipated.

He's homeschooled as well, which means he only ever leaves to get groceries. For how little he leaves the house, and how closed off he is, it's quite a wonder how he met Frank. Frank is an extrovert and he kind of lacks boundaries when it comes to making friends. He's curious and speaks his mind constantly, which sometimes gets him into trouble. It must be good for something though, because not many people bother to figure out Gerard.
