[Formerly called 'The Story of Snow']

To live in a circus, to run away to one; this is the dream of many. The shining lights and the music and the cheering of the crowds are appealing to some.

    How little they know!

This is the story of two brothers who were raised in a circus. One, a slave to the Master -- his most brilliant performer and a boy of pure white who has never been allowed to see the sun, nor feel the grass beneath his feet, nor the touch of rain upon his skin. The other, a slave to his brother -- a guardsman, trapped there not by chains but by love and loyalty. When fate proves unexpectedly kind to them on an otherwise cruel day, they find themselves free along with the girl they have been raised with and must find their way in a broken world, all the while being hunted without pause and without mercy.

The Master has lost his prize. He is determined to reclaim it.

WATTY'S 2022 SHORTLIST🏅A Qing Dynasty Snow White fairytale retelling with a Princess Mononoke twist. Featured on @Wattpad's Fantasy Adventures reading list and @WattpadExplorer. ***** Snow is anything but the submissive princess the Jade Palace expects her to be. Her foster mothers find her impossible, her royal tutor labels her incorrigible, and she recently threatened to shave her head if she were forced to marry. When the Empress presents her with an opportunity to go on the imperial spring hunt with the princes and her not-so-secret crush, Prince Erden, Snow jumps at the chance. Who knew that that would lead to an assassination attempt, a harrowing escape, and her getting hopelessly lost in a dark forest during a thunderstorm--with no survival skills whatsoever. The only things she has to help her survive are lots of moxie and latent magical powers she inherited from her deceased mother. Oh, and an ethereally white fox that led seven old dwarves to her. With the Empress's malicious intent now revealed, Snow must discover her true strength, who her mother really is, and what magical powers she wields, in order to find her way back to Erden. If she fails, she might never see him again and die a lonely old crone in the mountains. . . or get murdered anyway when the bloodthirsty Empress--said to have fantastical powers of her own--comes for Snow. A young fairy's desire to break free from the restraints tethering her to her world, pushes her into the arms of a charming, young wolf, whose world benefits from keeping her shackled. ***** Sixteen-year-old Ellette longs to know what the world is like outside of the Woodlands, home to all Fae. As the black sheep of her family, her curious and stubborn nature makes it difficult for her to adhere to the strict ways of her people. One night while running away, Ellette stumbles upon Michael, an injured werewolf. She makes the choice to save his life, and intends to send him on his way once he recovers. But the more Ellette gets to know the intriguing, young wolf, the more reluctant she is to let him go. And letting him go would certainly be in her best interest. Not only is Michael an intruder in the Woodlands, but the very creature all Fae have good reason to fear. As his forbidden presence threatens the safety of all Fae, Ellette finds herself torn between following her heart or doing right by her people.
