"People wondered why I hated Harry. Why because of some small denial in our first year that humiliated me, I sought vengeance and fought with him for all the ensuing years. Why I brought the Death Eaters into the castle during our sixth year. Why I became his nemesis. It should be obvious.
I hate him because he is everything I can never have. He is the Golden Boy. He is the hero. He never has to worry about dying un-remembered, from the night he was born history set its watchful gaze on him.
I hate him because I can't have him. Because every day he smiles and blushes with insipid little Ginny Weasley. I want that more than life itself. I want that to be me. I want him to look at me and blush, become flustered and unsure of himself. I want to melt the Chosen One's heart.
Hate and love are not as different as people think. They are both concentrated streams of passion, exploding from you uncontrolled and unrestrained, wild. If I can't have Harry Potter's love, at least I can get something from his hate.
