Zaczęło się naprawdę niewinnie. Najpierw zniknęła brytyjska podróżniczka, znana z tego, że często znikała. Po kilku dniach zniknął jednak też francuski polityk i włoski dyrektor szpitala, obydwoje w nadzwyczaj podejrzanych okolicznościach. Nie minął tydzień, a znaleziono ich zakrwawione, poszarpane w dziwny sposób ciała, zwisające smętnie z Wieży Eiffla. A później? Później było już tylko gorzej.
Franka dorastała w Polsce. Tajemnicze wieści o polowaniach na magicznych wydawały się jej być odległe. Spokój ma jednak to do siebie, że nie trwa wiecznie, a jego koniec ma kolor karminu.
