"My soul was only half once." The children gasp. "How are you sure?" "You believe in souls?" "I thought those weren't real!" "Is it whole now?" "How long was it half?" They shout excitedly as I laugh softly at their questions. "Believe it or not, they're more real then you could ever imagine." Anticipation fills the air as they await to hear the answer to the rest of their questions. "Its whole now, don't worry." They let out exaggerated sighs of relief. "Those were the happiest days of my life, actually, even if I was in constant danger." I continued, remembering the excitement and fear I constantly felt. "But I was never afraid, or alone, she always made me feel safe and special." I said as I smile warmly. "Who?" "The demon who borrowed the other half of my soul of course." Numerous amounts of exasperating gasps echoed throughout the room at the mention of a demon. "Arent those things evil!?" "My mommy says demons are wicked beings straight from hell." Says one child, scaring the rest of the children. "Dont jump to conclusions you guys" I laugh, "Demons tend to be misunderstood sometimes, I learned that from being around her for so long." "How do you know she didn't have ultre- uter- ultrur- ugh! Other ideas?" I giggle at the child's struggle to say ulterior. "Ulterior motives? Oh no, I would've been able to tell through our shared soul, she had none whatsoever that wasn't told to me already." "How could you feel so safe next to something so evil?" Says the smallest of the children. "Because she was never evil to begin with, she was just trying to shield herself from the world that was constantly against her, before and after she was a demon." "Did she protect you from the bad guys?" I laugh, "Yes, the entire time. She's the only reason I'm here with all of you today, and I am eternally grateful for her." "Were you 2 best friends?" One asks. I smile warmly. "We were so much more than that."All Rights Reserved
