The world we used to know is gone, and now lives under the government's scornful fist. Murdering those who do not follow their commands. Kidnapping young children for their own gain, leaving the parents to die or mourne their lost children never to be seen again.
Allonia has come to terms with this reality, believing that a 20 year old girl cannot change this world. She has stayed closed off only going into the forest as it was her only peace in this corrupt world she was forced into.
One group however, lives deep within the forest. Untouched by the government. The government fears these foresters, but why? For the past ten years they where believed to be just a rumor but it becomes Allonia's reality after she comes home to find out her father had been murdered and her brother, Ancel, kidnapped by the murders. Allonia seeks the help from these foresters to find her brother and to be able to move past her father's death. Will Allonia find her brother, or will she die trying?
