City Wizards.
Wizards in big cities who wear skinny jeans and flannel.
Who make pencils or pens out of their wands só they can hide them in plain sight.
Who get into back alley fights and charm guys harassing girls into having blue skin for the next week.
Who keep their cats in their pet-free flats by transfiguring them whenever their landlord stops in.
Who do street performances and participate in kids' parties for money and wink at little kids when they pocket their wands.
Who exchange secret smiles whenever they pass each other.
 City. Wizards.

Liz Campbell seems to be a normal young woman who studies at Cambridge University and works at a bookshop on her breaks. And, sometimes, she's an entertainer at kids' parties.

Lawrence Chambers is a young business man with a normal life. Well, until some street gang mistakes him for his drug dealer and he gets into some trouble. But he's saved by a mysterious girl, who has a strange silver pen, a cat (although her flat is pet-free), lots of problems with her toasty thing (toaster) and amazing violet eyes...
