Reyna Windsor, a half-breed fairie, is heir to the throne of Lordanelle and very much cursed. Her 'gifted' powers are radically out of control bringing death wherever she walks. Having her past haunting her every turn and court games meddling her mind she is treading on ice.
After taking shelter in the Northern Lands and training extensively in the art of swords and steel. Reyna is thrown into a battle of not just strength, but that of wit and sheer determination. Faeries are tricksters and always have a motive for their actions some of which are threatening to topple the world that Reyna strives to repair.
She soon learns the lords of Lordanelle offered the throne out of sheer desperation. The Southern Lands are out of control and in dire need of leadership. Without aid, Lordanelle may crumble straight through her fingers, not from an outside threat, but from within.
The lords however wish to see Reyna fail. In order to keep the throne and save her people, the lords have offered her an ultimatum. She must marry...
Mesmerized by the glorious glamors of Lordanelle and the faeries she meets on her way, Reyna struggles to accept the deal she's been dealt. She soon discovers that the beloved golden city is crawling with secrets from the rabble bustling the streets to the very castle itself. Masks come on and masks come off. Reyna quickly learns that to solve the darkening plague in her city she must become the darkness.
And she rather likes it.
