When I was born, I was different from other babies. I had a spine that didn't look lie a spine. The doctors put a metal rod in my back, hoping it would straighten. My spine was getting better, but my soul was getting worse. I was prescribed with countless medicines for my pain. They only made me feel worse. I'm in my senior year, and thanks to Jesus for my deformity, I'm probably having the worst school year of my life.

I've never had an easy life growing up. My parents were drug addicts and my baby sister and I had to fend for ourselves, our apartment was in no good condition, definitely not to live in. My sister hated going to school, she had only one friend. So she stayed home with our parents most of the time. I would go down to the lake early and wash myself but that was only when I went to school. We had to take what we can from the trash a lot, that is to survive hunger. But it was never until the day I lost my mother to an overdose of heroin that I knew what pain was. And my father was the more stable one, he may have never told me but I knew my father loved my sister and I. --Re-written-- When I was 8 we were playing hide and seek in the little park surrounded by bush down the street from my house. It was a large group of us. It was always fun down at the park, since our parents never really came and checked on us. I loved counting. The suspense. So I was counting. We counted to 90 so everyone could get the optimal spots in the park. The deal was that we never went too far into the bush. The boulder was our guide. I counted to 90, like normal, and then started looking. There were always specific spots that people hid in, so they were my first points to check. Oddly, no one was in any of them. But to my 8 year old self that made the whole thing better. I started looking hard. But didn't find anyone. I started to call out, starting to get worried.
