[UNFINISHED!] After two years, Henry has made a name for himself in the Dead Land, but amidst friendships, secrets, genocides, wars, and misled loyalties, he must still face his past and, once and for all, decide where he stands.

***

After two years of hardships and mistakes, Henry has made a name for himself in the Dead Land. He has long since turned himself into a hero, but will his determination to uplift and protect others withstand the ultimate test?
Returning from the uncharted lands, Henry and Thanatos find their hard-earned peace shattered by the sinister disappearance of their nibbler friends. In a desperate race against time to uncover the truth, Henry once again reunites with the questers, fighting to avert the inevitable. There, amidst a web of new and old friendships, hidden truths, conspiracies, genocides, wars, and loyalty dilemmas, he must confront his own fallibility, along with the one fear he has yet to conquer.

Strap yourself in for the final grand adventure of Henry's story, which isn't quite just Henry's anymore. Where the warrior spills the monster's blood and the peacemaker passes the baton, the Death Rider might have to face his past and uncover the true meaning of freedom - to run, but also to stay.
Join Henry now for his final unconquered trial and, when time is then defeated, for possibly even . . . a happy ending?

DISCLAIMER: This work is based on Suzanne Collins' "Gregor the Overlander"-series (The Underland Chronicles) and a sequel to "Trials of the Fallen Prince" (A Henry Story 2). It is not recommended to read this work without having read those. Going forward, I will treat the readers as though they have read the original (there will be massive spoilers, and knowledge of canon characters, events, and universe/lore will be expected).

"No Life 'Til Leather" by NUmaker

Sometimes shit happens. Hey, it's not always your day, it's alright. One moment you're riding high, soaring above these mud-riddled plains with the king of mercs by your side, another, you're running far away from the crater he blew himself up in. You've really outdone yourself this time. W's dead, there's angel blood on your fingers and something itches to grow out of your skull. To pierce those gray curls of yours and bask in the twin moon's soft gaze. Something brewing deep within, eager to dim that halo forever and shatter your wings. A piece of you that's always been there, always hiding and growling, waiting for its moment to shine. So, hit the lights, Andy. Give it some stage time. Let yourself live a little. Throw out that Lateran jacket, put on some leather. Grow a pair of horns, befriend a fiend. Forget Laterano, forget Lungmen. Kazdel is your new home. And your new home's where you rightfully belong, you little rascal. Hellooooo people !! Here we are, a SPIN-OFF story of my "Curly Head" series, in which Andy actually went on that one job he previously ditched and got himself into quite a predicament. In this one, I'll turn the angst-meter down, I promise. W and Andy, happy times. :D This is, of course, perfectly fine as a standalone work, I think, but if you're new and wanna brush up on the lore then you can do just that! Series starts with "Goodbye Curly Head", rest is pretty straightforward. Summed up: thirteen year old boy from Laterano ships himself off to fight in the Kazdel Civil War for peacekeeping reasons, situation turns to shit at the end of his tour, forced to stay in Kazdel and make money as a merc, meets up the first W's crew at the age of sixteen, circus-slapstick follows. Ps: I'm not giving up on "Almost Green", only taking a small break and also delivering some much needed fluff-ish stuff. Tell me you thoughts in the comments, I tend to reply to every single one of them and love reading through them all! Have fun!

In JOS I set the rogue and con-artist Harric against a foil of warriors in a land threatened by magic and civil war. Whenever possible I turn familiar tropes on their heads: instead of a handsome young Lancelot, I cast a broken-down ex-champion addicted to pain-killing herbs; instead of a dashing Squire Brian, the old knight reluctantly takes an ambitious young woman as squire. Similarly, I re-imagine the standard medieval milieu by infusing aspects of two of my favorite historical periods, Elizabethan England, and The American Frontier. Both eras boast a kind of nationalistic arrogance that borders on hubris, and a magnificent spirit of resourcefulness and re-invention that is fun to play with. SERIES The Jack of Souls is first in a series. I am posting parts of the sequel here now (The Knave of Souls), to help me refine the story.
