Night is special. Ni for short, she can manipulate shadows, even subconsciously.  She and her friend Aspen can't understand it. They have to hide this secret in their busy town of Los Angeles. 
Then, one day, three boys named Percy, Jason, and Leo take her and Aspen to a place in New York called Camp Half-Blood, and the two of them are told they are daughters of Poseidon and Hades respectively. But Night's counselor in her cabin, Nico, soon tells her she is different - in a way no one, not even the gods, have ever thought before.
