Blase Novaro is the only witch alive since the Northern War, a war that wiped out the witch population. After ten years of being trapped in an old elf's basement he was finally free, but completely and utterly broken. Unable to end himself because of a curse, he does whatever he can to get something else to end him. Four years later, the King of the East offers him something too irresistible to turn down, a chance to destroy the Northern Kingdom, now being ruled by the dirty elves. Blase has to work together with eight other powerful people in order to sneak into the North and end the King of the North and himself once and for all. But something even more disastrous than his past happens, he falls in love. And he's afraid that the person he loves, will love him back. Because if they love him back, that will ruin his plans, he doesn't want to hurt them. Even worse, people start caring about him, and he contemplates whether ending himself really would be worth it. Once upon a time a snow king fell for an apathetic servant, then a prince-turned-bear found true love in a fellow prince who almost shot him in the face. Almost. Then, of course, one can't forget a monster who found himself wanting to be more human. Bit by bit. For love. Protagonists quirky and not, sarcastic and witty and a bit too self-aware. Every fairy tale has their typical happy ending but it looks as though these ones had to take detours and backtrack on the way to theirs... oh well. As long as it ends well, who cares if it's a little bit odd. Each story is its own stand-alone tale of romance, though there may be bonus shorts for some.
