When Wang He Di leaves the small village he grew up in, to find work in the streets of glamourous and dangerous Shanghai, the first thing that catches his eye is the beautiful Shen Yue, a young woman also trying to make her fortunes in the "Paris of the East." The year is 1928 and both are barely adults when they fall in love with each other, embarking on a journey spanning decades that will see them traverse the terrains of Sichuan and Hunan, and live in the colonial ports of British Hong Kong and Portuguese Macau. Through the peaceful times and through the imminent and eventually immediate danger that is the Japanese Imperial Army, their love for each other stands the test of time.

"Under the Moon" is the story of what it looks like, to walk this life with someone who is a true partner, a partner who is ready to face and overcome any dangers that threaten the love they cherish so deeply. It is a rollar coaster ride across the emotional spectrum, exploring the human condition in its many forms, from the subtle but deadly power of conversation, to the unapologetic bluntness of action.
