Life as a scribe post-graduation at Oxenfurt Academy is a good one. When your old friend Jaskier comes looking for somewhere to spend the winter, you accept him with open arms and, unwittingly, an open heart.
A reader-insert Witcher series, wherein 'you' are an old friend of Jaskier's from school. Eventual Jaskier x Reader. Part 1 of the 'what we choose to keep' series.
Set in a weird and nebulous timeline where I don't have to think too hard about /when/ things happen, because otherwise I'll never actually get to write this.
This is entirely self-indulgent, and self-beta'd. All mistakes are my own.

Jaskier was part fae. A quarter to be precise. There was an old superstition among humans that names held power, but for fae it was so much more than that. Names meant control. If you knew a fae's name, their true name, they would be completely at your will. If someone knew your true name you were nothing more than their servant. A slave. All it took was a single command. When war breaks out between neighboring kingdoms, Jaskier's father uses his true name and commands him to marry a witcher as part of a peace treaty. Side note, I try to keep this as gender ambiguous as possible. Not all of them will be completely ungendered (if it isn't, it will most likely be female unless someone specifically requested a male reader), but I try to as much as possible. Hopefully, you can forgive me for that. And finally, no smut/lemons. I hope you understand, as I'm not quite comfortable writing that sort of thing. This character is me and how I see myself as along with my love of anime, transformers and Lolita fashion. This Rick and Morty story is about a 23 year old named Nicole Peterson all her life she had been asexual and when she was in middle school is also found out that she was aromatic. Despite that she still had a lot of friends that where supportive of her, on social media she did a lot of cosplay and Lolita post along with makeup tutorials that gave her even more popularity. Her parents didn't believe her nd wanted her to get married, crossed the last line in setting her up with an arrange marriage without her telling her right away and discovered there dirty secret by accident. The result was her moving far away as possible and telling her followers and they offered her finance support. Nicole ended up moving to Seattle, Washington which was more than far enough if the united states for her. She had enough to buy a house in a quite neighborhood, little did she now she across the street from a very different family. Not long after she meet them there grandfather started taking interest in her a little too much and when he saved her from her arranged fiancé that tried to forcefully take her back his feelings for her turned to obsession.
