Darkness is coming. It comes once every nine hundred years. A young lord of the Castle Iserhaus is chosen by his father to lead a select group of friends to the small town of Raskes located near the edge of the Shadowlands. Meanwhile, the Darkness in the form of a race known as the Drakerns ravaged the surrounding village near the castle and began their siege. This is a tale of a race against time before the darkness overcomes the world of Midgaea.
Author's notes: This was my first story I ever attempted to write when I was in high school (1999-2003). I never finished it. To be honest, I was writing at a middle school level and only wrote a few chapters, so my writing had improved since then and I've been trying to finish this story. Now I'm going to finish it and name it Book One. It's not done, but it will be a part of an ongoing series! I hope you enjoy it :)

Zane's ambition leads him to strike a deal with the Shadowveil, betraying the group for power before he realizes his mistake. The biggest twist comes when the group learns that the artifacts are not simply protective relics but pieces of a divine entity that once created the Shadowveil. The entity demands that one of them must sacrifice their humanity to contain the Shadowveil forever.
