Since the beginning, Vampires and Werewolves have been sworn enemies, but Vampires took the upper hand when they murdered the Royal Werewolves. Every year since, every pack had to offer up three of the strongest in their pack. This went on for centuries, causing packs to die out and those that didn’t were weak and prone to the attacks of vampires.
