Sure it got cramped and stuffy sharing space with the two dozen or so other kids like him, but that wasn't so bad. He had friends, a few decent meals a week, a roof over his head and clothes on his back. Nothing to complain about, right?
All that changed the day he woke up to find his ears sprouted into two points. Now scared, abandoned, and hunted by the King's soldiers for reasons unknown, Helryn's fight for survival took a drastic turn for the worse.
