Calligan "Cal" O'Reilly is an observant, social, fourteen year-old exchange student ready to make the most of his time abroad. Having a limited amount of time in Paris, he strives to make as many meaningful friendships as he can. But his willingness to be open is tested when he meets a classmate who lies as much as she breathes.

Featuring betrayal, self-sacrifice, and denial, the two classmates begin a tumultuous journey. Despite their efforts to break the tension between them, they find themselves in more difficult situations as time passes. Will Lila's habitual fibbing prevent her from seeing the truth in front of her? Will Cal's kindness leave him vulnerable to be manipulated?
