I wait to hear the signal to start. It’s delayed. I get lost in thoughts. I reposition my hands on the rod. I lean my head on the blue and gold fabric on my arm. I control my breathing and count the breaths. One. The cheering felt quieter. Two. I remembered how I pressed my lips on his cheek. Three. I remembered how he defended me. Four. I remember the time I felt his hand on my side. Five. I remembered he was the reason I fell off the bar. Six. I see him face with my eyes closed and my mind blank; I see the details of his features as he looks at me. Seven. I love him. Eight. Every single noise had disappeared to me, leaving only my heartbeat throbbing and my breaths shuttering.

[✓] ∥ It all happened in a split second. One moment I was on his back, and the next one I was lying on the ground, watching the man who would be responsible for my possible disabilities run away. The woman was sitting and had her back against a near-by wall, and from what I could see, her eyes were wide and she was shaking. I would be too, if I wasn't paralyzed. Literally. A few hours later, well, just about 20 seconds in reality, she slowly stood up and observed me with horror in her eyes for a few moments. I looked back at her, seeing as that was the only thing I could do to let her know I was still alive. "Dear lord, child, what have you done?" She whispered, looking down at me. "I need..." I could barely choke the words out. "I need you to call the ambulance." Copyright © 2014 by funkystyles
