"What's going to be left of the world if you're not in it?"
I used to believe in soulmates.
I always found comfort in the idea that every one of us will one day meet the person who is the perfect match. As my friend Talia insisted, the person would like their coffee the same way, and we'd like to read the same books. Even though I had a different vision of what a soulmate was, I always thought that once I found that person, we'd be invincible, that no harm would come to us and we'd live out an incredible life.
I had met that person when we were young. We were just juniors in highschool, and he was perfect. Of course, we didn't like the same books, I never even liked reading. But he would sit and read his books on Sunday afternoons and he'd let me draw him while he did so. We suprisingly liked our coffee the same way, as weird as it was. And, no matter how bad we argued we'd always be able to talk through it and understand each other. He was the love of my life.
And he died.
