Greyson Harley has always been somewhat of an odd child. His parents knew that there was something wrong with him since the day he was born. They still get shivers whenever they think about that day. He didn't scream, didn't cry, like a normal baby. He simply stared up at his parents, emotionless.

Fourteen years later, the Harleys decide to take action. They take a silent, emotionless Greyson to a mental hospital, and leave him to the doctors.

He desperately wants to try again but is put under constant supervision, especially by his new doctor, Dr Palmer. He starts back at college full time, and becomes ever closer with Stephanie, the only person whom he feels that he can trust. When his own father attacks his mother, Caleb begins to think that the police are on to him, trying to unravel his past, thinking that they have realised what happened to cause him to try to commit suicide. However, they are just trying to build a case against his father. In desperation, Caleb tried to reach out to Dr Palmer, against the advice of his mother. As his life spirals out of control, Dr Palmer makes him realise that the only way he can carry on is to come clean and reveal his secret. In a shocking final twist, everything is revealed to be not what it seems, and Caleb finds out that he will be ok, no matter what happens to him.
