It wasn't easy, but with her partner's help, she has decided it was best. Her first job is to paint a portrait from a photo she was sent, the photo is blurry, but she does her best and the customer is pleased and pays her triple the original agreed price. When the painting is finished she sits back and admires her work. But the portrait moves. Strange things start happening in the house and Lauren realises that the person from the portrait is no longer on the canvas. The person is in the house. Somehow a spirit has been summoned. Run for you Sarah Miller had never run a race before. She's never even considered it. Her twin, Connor, had always been the runner. But when he passes after a short battle with cancer, she wants to do something that would have made him proud. While going through his things with their older sister, Eleanor, she finds some of his old race medals and decides that she wants to run in his honour. She signs up to her first-ever race and starts raising money to go towards helping people with cancer, and their families. As training starts, she realises that 5KM is a lot longer when you've never run before. As the race draws closer, she thinks about backing out. She visits the fundraiser page to write her update and sees that the total is more than she ever thought she would raise, and it's still growing. She decides that she won't give up. She wants to do this for Connor.

When Lila loses her sister after the race for the title, she moves from California to Virginia, thinking a fresh start will clear the past. It was her sister's dying wish to leave the industry. To top it off, Lila leaves racing knowing holding the title mid-season. What happens when she falls in love with a guy who would risk everything for her? Even knowing they shouldn't be together. What happens when the racing industry comes after her for the title? ~ ~ ~ He licks his lips, raking a hand through his hair. "You know I've had my suspicions about something, but I think that phone call proved it." He pauses, waiting for me to continue. "You race," He says. And when I don't nod, he continues. "I think it's more than that." He takes a deep breath. "Lila, are you the racer who holds the title?" Frustrated, he says, "I opened up to you and I don't think it's fair you aren't doing the same." I scoff. "I didn't ask you to do that." "You didn't deny it." Panic fills my body. My hands shake by my side. Ollie gently grabs my hands. "Lila, I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here for you. Answer me this: Are you the racer who holds the title? Be honest with me. Reel me in and I can help you." I nod, a tear slipping out of my eye. "Lila, please let me in so I can help you. Why is Devin after you?" "He wants the title. The whole industry is pretty much after me." "But why is he the one who is out for blood?" I squeeze his hand. "Maybe this is where your patience comes in."
