The Gods created 5 spirits in human form, ice, water, fire, soil and wind. They all came with the same purpose, which was to protect mortals.
The fire spirit, Kenji Hirabayashi, faced rejections from mortals - because of his failure to protect. With no control of his dangerous ability, he damaged villages and proceeded to murder villagers, which angered the Gods above. As when he knew the Gods were looking for him, he ran away to the forest, which where he met the only mortal that showed no fear.
However, she at first did not know he was the one who unintentionally slaughtered her parents with his fire 3 years prior. And when Kenji has the courage to tell her, it broke her heart.
Now, because Kenji had deeply disappointed the Gods. It is either Kenji or the girl, Hanako, who will be executed. Why Hanako? Because she chose to protect a corrupted spirit like Kenji.
But, if so, will Hanako be granted a new life? A better life? With the gifts from the Gods to make her 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒚? Will they meet again in her next life?
Will Kenji ever deserve a happy ending?
