The Battle of the Bands ✓
He took a step closer, the smirk not leaving his face as he could sense my irritation. "I've been looking forward to this for far too long," he laughed, licking his lips. "And for once, I'm gonna be the one knocking the smug smile off of your face." My scowl deepened, confused as to what he was talking about. He took another step forward, standing close enough for me to get a whiff of his minty breath and aftershave. Now Kylie has to deal with four new issues; her parent's immature fights, avoiding her ex, improving her grades, and keeping the band from falling apart. All of this, and putting up with a guy in the rival band that is so cocky yet so cute. [Based on a true story] Kaylee has no clue what happened. One second, she is sitting in middle school with her nose stuck in a book, and the next she's in the band room with a trombone between her legs. For years, it had always been her dream to join the band. After moving to a new town and learning about a marching band, she struggles through her eighth grade year trying to settle on the instrument that is right for her. After four failed attempts with no luck, her teacher throws the trombone at her, and before she knows it, she's out on the high school football field playing in front of a big crowd of people.
