Book 3 - Post War Era

***

"We don't heal in isolation, but in community."
- S. Kelley Harrell

***

One year since Bastogne. One year since Alice lost half of everyone she'd come to care about in Easy. One year since she'd battled against pneumonia as much as she'd battled against the Germans. Only now, she was home.

No foxholes, no artillery barrages, no tree bursts. Just Alice and Nix and the mansion they'd been given by his mother. But they're both getting restless. Harry and Kitty's wedding is on the horizon, and with that, an excuse to travel.

But even with no foxholes, no artillery barrages, and no tree bursts keeping them up at night, they hadn't come home unscathed. No one had. Everyone who went to war was a victim.

This story is a post-war continuation of a Band of Brothers fanfiction duology, A Soldier of No Importance and Humanity of the Broken. Please keep this in mind. It will feature linear narrative as well as one-shots from me and requested by readers.

𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑩𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 '𝑨𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆' 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 A lifetime of grief. A thousand years of waiting. Enough torment to cripple the divine. But Sanya found Edmund, at the end of it all. He held her in his arms again. They were reunited. After all the pain, there was love. And love seemed enough to give up everything- yet again. Love was enough to take his hand, and walk into another realm. But new worlds do not fix old aches- and they can even end up creating new ones. New people, new sights, new moments do not take away from the memories of the old. Loss- of home, of family, of love, of identity, of everything- can be pushed back, but the agony of it festers like an untreated wound. And, really, is love- even love that has survived so much- enough to cure so many wounds, borne of too many kinds of pain? But Sanya doesn't care. Edmund thinks that he doesn't care, either. They have each other again- no amount of teachers and separate schools and parents can keep them away from each other- and that togetherness was what was important. That was what mattered. But the question is, I suppose- is the once-True lying to her love, or to herself, or both? - 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: Mature language, explicit sexual scenes, use of slurs, attempted suicide, self-harm, racism, queerphobia, mention of internalised homophobia, violence, recollection of trauma. - #3 in #narniaau #4 in #medievalfantasy #5 in #skandarkeynes #5 in #ocfanfiction #7 in #worldwar2 #8 in #narniafanfiction #28 in #1940s #31 in #kingsandqueens •••• The Alliance Series, as found on @EdsGryff: 'Alliance' 'The Heirs' 'Moonshine' 'Fairytale?' ••••

Those things which are precious are saved only by sacrifice." - Stephen E. Ambrose, Band of Brothers - * - * - * - War never changes, but who you fight alongside does. In 1942, Alice Klein left the French Maquis to assist the American's paratrooper corps. She lost everything to the Nazis when she left: her family, her country, and her friends. But she gained Easy Company. Alice and the rest of Easy Company have been through six long months of combat already. They've seen friends die. But they're about to enter the toughest months yet. December in Bastogne brings trench foot, artillery barrages, and snipers. It brings frostbite and stupid mistakes. And above all, D-Day + 193 brings death. As the war drags on, Alice must face hard truths about what it means to be a German Jew. Events from 1942 come to light which force her to rethink everything she knew about her family's fate. As it turned out, Germans were the first victims of the Nazi party. Thankfully, Alice doesn't have to face it alone. While some faces disappear forever, others become closer than she could have ever imagined. Because though war never changes, who you fight it with does. - * - * - * - Pairing: Lewis Nixon/OC BOOK TWO in [ A Tale of Two Heritages ] Start Date: March 24, 2020 End Date: May 11, 2020 Word Count: 139,901 Cross-posted to FFN and Ao3. and to julianneday1701 on Tumblr - * - * - * - THIS CONTAINS realistic depictions of world war ii, realistic depictions of the holocaust, strong language, major character death, cigarette abuse, alcohol abuse
