In Allena, everyone has a place. Don't commit a serious crime and you are safe for life. there will be a place for you until you die. Well, unless you win.
Far away, there is a hideous land called Stula. Demons and terrors inhabit the lands. Once a year, all the thirteen-year-olds must submit a blood sample, fingerprint, and ID. There is typically always a different number of people who 'win'. The people who 'win' are sent to be eaten by the demons of Stula. In exchange, the demons leave the people of Allena alone.
