Lianne Kazan wakes up one day to discover a stray cat at her door, who oddly enough seem eerily attentive to her every move. And no matter how hard she may try to rid herself of the cat, something always comes up.

Upon her 20th, the stray transforms itself into its true form. And it comes as a such when it's discovered the "cat" is a shifter and elite general of a kingdom unknown to Lianne. He was entrusted with her care and safety till her 20th birthday when he is to deliver her to his kingdom, due to the fact she is the illegitimate child of the late tyrant King of fire.

A strong glamour had been placed into Lianne at birth per the request of her mother to the King. A glamour which eliminated her scent and any magical abilities to be suppressed till her 20th year. Discovery of the King's last remaining heir drives the current ruler to send his most trusted to retrieve her in order to watch her more closely within his borders. If Lianne is to be deemed without magic coursing through her vains, or golden blood, she will kept as a slave or pet forever.

BUT, if she is discovered having magic, she will either be killed or given/forced into a political marriage in order to quell the rising rebels who seem to see her as some sort symbol of the rebellion.
