Catherine Daniels thought she had her life under control. She had goals, a good relationship with her sibling, loved school, and had friends. She was a mechanic who, like her father, specialized in cars.

She had met a young boy living down the street. His name was Peter, and the two didn't immediately hit it off. He was that annoying troublemaker who always seemed high on energy drinks and low on sleep. She was calm, collected, and always finding ways to avoid him. But he kept coming back, and she kept finding him more and more attractive every time.

Then her life took a turn for the worst. Society could no longer accept her and her sister.

Persecution for Catherine's kind was only growing, as were her abilities. Her parents did the one thing they figured would be safest for her: sending her to Xavier's Academy for Gifted Youngsters.
