Keith was the first paladin to die, and lance is constantly tormenting himself afterward for it. It took him losing Keith to realize how much he loved him. Lance throws himself into battle, to forget his grief. All the paladins, except lance, die in the war, but in the end, Zarkon dies, the universe freed, and lance finds out about his altean origins. But all that is meaningless, without him. But lance made a promise to Keith to live on, and so lance did, for hundreds of years, aimlessly. Until he finally dies, only wishing for his quintessence to find Keith's. When lance opens his eyes in the Garrison the night they find Shiro and the blue lion, he plans to change the future. His space family will live, and so will his only love. The universe has given Lance a chance, and he plans to use it.

She ended up with a very light skin tone, due to a strange Altean occurrence. When no Altean father is present, the child takes the skin tone of the closest Altean male. Since that was Coran, Isla ended up with lighter skin, but Lance and Allura had no problems with it. Some time after Allura had passed away, Lance and Keith realized they had feelings for each other. They soon adopted a daughter named Abbey. Abbey had been through a lot regarding families, so she wasn't fond of siblings. Soon enough though, her and Isla became great friends.
