All over Mexico, early in November, families gather to welcome the souls of the dead on their annual visit home. The smells of burning copal incense and pungent cempasúchil (marigolds) mingle with the aromas of fresh bread, new clothing, sweets, and candles. One of Mexico's most important festivals since prehispanic times, the Day of the Dead is an occasion for celebrating and feasting, cleaning and decorating graves, dancing and making music.
In this unique work, the authors explore both the historic origins of this holiday and its colorful present-day celebrations in Mexico and the United States. Interviews with Mexican artists and crafters who provide goods for the festival-from personalized sugar skulls to gigantic papier-mâché skeletons-offer a fascinating glimpse into traditional and contemporary attitudes toward death and the dead.

It is the beginning of the apocalypse and Les is there at ground zero. After returning home for the funeral of a friend, his world in turned upside down by events that try his every sense of reason. Lost at the Start
Luna knows when she wakes up something isn't right. Despite not remembering anything from her last day alive, she knows she's supposed to be dead; That she is dead. So why am I still here? Watching the reactions of those she left behind, she gets some answers, but she still doesn't know why she isn't Resting In Peace. She's know there has to be a reason, and she desperately wants to find out what, so she can get to Being Dead like she's supposed to. Even if it takes a while. Even if she still can't move on when she does. Oh, and she has to figure out how this whole "being dead" thing works by herself. Great. And the longer she stays dead, full of questions she can't answer, Luna's already shattered and tiny world starts to close in on her.
