After the U.A Sports Festival and the fight between Shoto Todoroki and Izuku Midoriya everything that Midoriya said left Todoroki completely in thought. It was different later in the year he hoped to gain Midoriya's friendship but soon after gaining this friendship he was seeking more from Midoriya and couldn't explain these feelings he was having. He really didn't have anyone to talk to about this except his mother but he was so afriad of making her disown him again so he kept his mouth shut and his feelings aside.
