Taking a job as a repair engineer aboard a interspecies ship ran by the Atssk is her first step forward toward independence. Love is the last thing on her mind and self sufficiency the first.

This is the beginning part 1 of the novel, it is sectioned off in separate parts for easier reading. This is the introductory events before the main story started its journey.
