I think it's been more than 20 years since that day. I haven't spoken to him since I graduated from high school. It's funny. I thought we were inseparable.
We had known each other since we were babies. Both our parents were friends and worked at a hospital as medical doctors. Actually, my grandfather was the owner of the hospital. Since my father was his only son, he was the rightful heir to the property. My grandpa died 2 months before I was born so I grew up in the top 1% in Japan.
My parents were hardly home so we were basically raised together by nannies. Although I was given everything I could ask for, I wasn't happy and Asahi knew that better than anyone. I think that's why we were so close. Because we knew how it was to be abandoned by your family. We did everything together. All I can do now is think about how we felt.
