Set in the future.
Elvira is a thief. Orphaned from a young age, she has survived only by luck and pure will in the poverty-stricken streets of Russia.
But her life is about to change.
One day, she is forcibly taken from her home to America on a program to re-unite the estranged nations, and given a choice.
She can fend for herself and fade into the background, or she can participate in the most deadly contest in the world: the contest of Kings and Queens, in a bid to win glory and honour for her country, and herself.
