Carissa is in her first year of university with her best friend from middle school Josh. She's a quiet reserved student who loves being kindhearted to others. From her unending love to be kind she starts to learn sign language so she can communicate better with her mute roommate Claire who is a shy but friendly girl who up till now hasn't been able to make a lot of friends due to her disability. Carissa sees Claire as any regular student and treats her as such which Claire really appreciates. Now on her second semester of uni Carissa and Josh try to stay together as best friends but their friendship is threatened by the mass of work they both have on their hands. That's when Carissa meets Eric and Xander , Claire's boyfriend and older brother. Being her normal self she is nice and kind to the two boys but her efforts only seem to be returned from Eric and with his joyous personality she could see how good he was for Claire. She feels disheartened by Xander's lack of kindness and wonders how someone can get through life with such a brooding and serious personality. He always seems to answer all her smiles with a glare and every compliment with a grunt. Thinking that she's wasting her time trying to befriend this super smart grump Carissa decides to pause her efforts but somethings do't always go as planned and after two weeks of going along with her merry life she has buck-ups with reality and also with the person she had pledged she would stop thinking about...which seems pretty hard due to his overly handsome features and serious expression.
