It is Emerson's first day as a medical intern at Shadow Lake Hospital in her hometown of Massachusetts. Having graduated top of her class from Yale Medical School, she feels confident that she is prepared and ready to begin her residency at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country.
The thing she is not prepared for is the constant scrutiny of her mentors and attendings as well as the fierce competition between her and the other interns.
