The private boarding academy of Welton has opened its doors to female students. With this change, a new student from across the country is brought to the school grounds. Charlotte Lewis is a junior from Louisiana. She is reserved, overly observant, and hiding from a past that she cannot come to terms with. It also happens that she will be the only student of mixed race attending Welton Academy. Her introduction to a rambunctious group of boys, and an odd English teacher will change her view of the world and its obstacles. But is she prepared for when the mistakes of her parent's past start to catch up to her? How can she love when her life is in danger?
