The Great War has begun and Private Thomas Stanley Holland must leave behind his wife Nora and their young son Nicolas to fight in France. Will he return home forever changed or will he join the countless who lost their lives? 'They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them' Lest We Forget. I wrote this story remembrance of ANZAC Day and to commemorate the lives of those who were lost or forever altered by the Great War. I was also heavily inspired by the song 'Sleeper in the Valley' by Laura Veirs.
